The Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary continues its generous support of Guthrie by extending their partnership to the 2019 Guthrie Gala, serving as this year’s title sponsor for the event. The Guthrie Gala is the premier fundraising event for the Sayre House of Hope.
The Sayre House of Hope offers affordable temporary housing where patients and their loved ones can relax and unwind from the stress of being in a hospital environment yet be just moments away from treatment. Since its opening in 2007, Sayre House of Hope has hosted over 2,300 families from all 50 states and around the world, including Israel and China.
Sayre House of Hope Resident Manager, Elizabeth Hibbard added, “Sayre House of Hope is proud to serve patients and their families during what can be a stressful and scary time. I am privileged to see firsthand how the community’s support impacts lives daily.”
In fiscal year 2019, the Sayre House of Hope had over 185 applications from families spread far and wide. 73.3% of the people that stayed in the Sayre House of Hope did so for reduced or no charges, about three-quarters of that number fell into the no charge category.
Guthrie President and CEO, Dr. Joseph Scopelliti said, “This ‘home away from home’ is a wonderful community resource which was envisioned by Guthrie staff members and is made possible by the generosity of donors within our community. Many thanks to these donors and the many volunteers who through the years have kept these doors open to patients and their families.”
Sayre House of Hope has received support from countless community members and organizations, including donations totaling more than $400,000 from the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary This year’s Guthrie Gala is on track to surpass the momentous milestone of raising more than $1 million to support the Sayre House of Hope.
