Thanks to generous donors like you, the new Heart and Vascular Center at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is now open to the public. This new center will be a key part of Guthrie’s mission to meet the community’s rising cardiac care needs.
The new center, which has been designed to offer advanced cardiac and vascular care in a patient-centered environment, was unveiled on May 1.
During the event, Daniel Sporn, MD, FACC, MHA, Chief of Cardiology and President of the Robert Packer Hospital Board, said, “Today Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital begins a new chapter in caring for our cardiac and vascular patients. Our new Heart and Vascular Center will provide advanced equipment and technology, improved safety, and enhanced flexibility. Together with our care team, this new center for cardiac and vascular care will provide a truly patient-centered experience.”
Joseph Sawyer, President of Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, welcomed the new center. “As a leading provider of cardiac services in our region, Guthrie remains committed to meeting the growing needs of our 11-county service area,” he said. “This new center will allow us to meet those needs while still keeping the patient at the center of all that we do.”
More Space, Privacy, and Convenience, Plus Advanced Technology
Patients rely on Guthrie, a leading provider of cardiac services in the Twin Tiers region, for accessible, lifesaving heart care – and that reliance will only grow. The Advisory Board projects that, by 2025, residents of Guthrie’s 11-county region will experience significant growth in their need for cardiovascular procedures. Guthrie built the new Heart and Vascular Center in order to meet these increasing service demands while continuing to provide an excellent level of care to all patients.
Located at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, the new 17,000-square-foot center offers:
- Spacious cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and structural heart rooms with Philips Azurion imaging equipment, providing advanced digital image enhancement at lower-dose radiation
- Universal care private rooms for patient prep and post-care recovery
- Close proximity to the Intensive Care Unit and Operating Room
- A spacious waiting area with real-time status boards that allow family to follow the progress of the patient
- A convenient street-level entrance adjacent to the parking lot
Top Cardiac Care From the Region’s Top Team
Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital has been recognized nationally by Truven Health Analytics 10 times as one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals and received multiple Healthgrades awards this year, including recognition as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Interventions for the fourth consecutive year.
Guthrie’s cardiovascular team is the largest and most experienced in the region. More than 30 specialists in 14 locations work together to provide comprehensive care for a variety of disease and conditions, from the most common to the most complex. Guthrie cardiologists consistently receive top ratings on Press Ganey patient satisfaction surveys. Our cardiovascular team has implanted more than 10,000 devices, including pacemakers and defibrillators. From July 2017 to June 2018, our providers treated almost 600 heart attacks. They also performed more than 5,000 cardiac and vascular procedures in that span of time – more than any other health system in our service region.
Guthrie’s talented cardiovascular team has always done incredible work with the resources at their disposal. The new center will help them maintain and improve that level of care in the face of the region’s rising cardiac care needs – now and for years to come.
“The new Cath Lab is going to allow us to do more complex procedures than ever before, allowing patients to receive world-class care close to home,” says Dr. Sporn.
