For the Greater Good

“We love living in this area, and being able to get the care our family needs close to home is important to us.” – Jim Good.

Nanette and Jim Good have been living in the area for more than 40 years, and running their business, Mountain Lake Electric and Construction, for almost as long. Their three daughters were born at the Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital, and their son was born at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. Jim was also treated for a broken back, a dislocated hip, and head injuries after multiple accidents, Nanette received treatment for breast cancer, and Jim’s father had open-heart surgery at Guthrie. These are just a few examples of the care they have received as they have watched their children grow, cared for their parents, and been blessed with grandchildren, two of whom were born at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital as well.

“The care that Guthrie offers is excellent, and everyone is exceptionally friendly and helpful,” Jim says. “They get to know you on a personal level, and that can make a big difference. We know we’re not just a number, and will always get the best care possible whenever we need it, whether it’s something small like a basic checkup, or a life-saving procedure like my dad’s open-heart surgery.”

Over the years, Nanette and Jim have donated to the health system many times, both personally and through their business. At first, they supported Towanda Memorial Hospital, and then also contributed to Guthrie when Towanda Memorial Hospital became part of Guthrie. Their most recent contributions have been to the Guthrie Forward Together campaign and the Emergency Medical Service program at Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital. Having high-quality Emergency Medical Services close by gives them peace of mind, and provides valuable medical services that their employees and the community rely on.

“We have always had a strong sense of giving back to the community, whether it be to the library, town events, Rotary, churches, and other volunteer groups,” says Nanette. “There have been times when we’ve needed exceptional medical service for ourselves and our loved ones, and Guthrie has always been there for us. We feel fortunate to be able to give back so other families can get the same great care.”
