“When I traveled take part in these seminars, instructors would ask me where I graduated from, almost every one of them knew the reputation of the Robert Packer and Guthrie. I hope this scholarship fund inspires nurses to set goals and reach out and go further because it’s going to help somebody.”
Jean Marie Warpus Scholarship Fund
In 1962, Mrs. Jean Marie (Linderman) Warpus graduated from the former Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing. She credits her training and dedication to a rewarding career that included being named national Orthopedic Nurse of the Year in 1979, publishing 16 articles in professional journals and travelling internationally to participate in seminars.
Mrs. Warpus is proud of her family legacy of hard work and love of community, and serves the trustee of Linderman-McGlenn Family Trust, established by her uncle and aunt, Montague and Amelia Linderman. She has dedicated this resource to support nursing scholarships, an investment in the health and wellness of our community.
When asked what she hopes to accomplish with this fund, Mrs. Warpus replied, “I am proud to have trained and started my career at Guthrie, and as a former nurse and member of the community I want to give back to the next generation of nurses. Having worked in other facilities and health systems, I can’t praise Guthrie enough – it is a treasure.”
Kate Mohr, Chief Nursing Officer at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support that Jean Marie, and, through her, the Linderman-McGlenn trust, gives to Guthrie. We appreciate her recognition of our nurses, helping them to grow and continue the great work we do here at Guthrie. It makes a real difference for the lives of the people in our communities.”
